ANZAC Day at the Bowlo

We’ll be open on Saturday the 25th of April from 6 am to 10 am for a quiet and respectful start to ANZAC Day.

We’ll be serving breakfast burgers(until sold out), along with a tea and coffee station (gold coin donation).

Later in the day, we’ll have a sausage sizzle for lunch and the TV will be on ;) .

We’ll also be running a raffle, with all proceeds going to Bicton RSL more details to come.

We welcome members and the community to come down, reflect, and spend part of the day together.

Art Exhibition – Thank You

A big thank you to Kathleen Moore for allowing us to host her exhibition at the Bowlo throughout March.

It was great to see so many members and guests engaging with the work, asking questions, and taking a genuine interest in both the pieces and Kathleen’s process. The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, and it was fantastic to see the Bowlo being used in a slightly different way.

We’re now open to more artists who may be interested in showcasing their work in the space. If you’ve been thinking about it or have something to offer, feel free to get in touch.

Bookings at the Bowlo

We’ve had a strong start to the year with plenty happening around the Bowlo, but there’s still room to take on more bookings — particularly during the week.

If you’re planning a corporate function, community gathering, team building session, training session or group meeting, the Bowlo offers a relaxed and flexible space to suit a range of needs.

Weekday/Weeknight bookings in particular are a great option, with more availability and a laid-back atmosphere that works well for both social and professional groups.

If you’ve got something coming up or are just exploring options, get in touch with the Club Manager to see what’s possible.

Bowlo Staff

March saw both Darryl and Fiza take on other roles meaning they are no longer available at the Bowlo. We would like to thank them and wish them the best in their future endeavours.

This means we are on the look out for a new Chef/Cook for Friday nights, the job will be posted on Instagram, Facebook, Seek and Linkedin in the coming days, your support in spreading the word would be appreciated. For the time being our Friday feeds are being served by our wonderful volunteers.

Guided Community Bike Ride

On Sunday the 12th of April, we’ll be welcoming riders finishing a guided community bike ride across the Stirling Bridge, with the Bowlo as the end point.

This free community event is a great way to stay active and keep Fremantle moving while the Traffic Bridge remains closed. It’s open to students, families, workplace teams and local residents — no pressure, just a good chance to get involved.

Details:
Sunday the 12th of April
2–4 pm
Starts at the Round House in Fremantle and finishes at the Bowlo

If you’re keen to take part, register here:

We’ll see you at the finish line.

Volunteers & Grants

Behind the scenes, the Bowlo has been busy putting in the work to support and grow what we’re building here.

In March, we submitted two grant applications aimed at strengthening both our reach in the community and the support we provide to our volunteers.

The first was the City of Fremantle’s $500 Sporting Club Sponsorships Program. If successful, this funding will go towards a targeted flyer drop in East Fremantle, helping us reconnect with nearby residents and businesses — particularly with the ongoing disruption caused by the Fremantle Bridge closure. If this proves effective, we’ll look to expand into surrounding suburbs like Fremantle and Mosman Park.

The second was an Expression of Interest for the Federal Volunteer Grants Program, submitted via Josh Wilson MP’s office. This grant supports not-for-profit organisations and the volunteers who keep them running. We’ve applied for funding to help cover essentials like internet access, along with a laptop and volunteer management software to better coordinate and support the people who give their time to the Bowlo.

The Bowlo simply wouldn’t be what it is without its volunteers — from the committee and bar staff through to grounds, events and everything in between. These applications are about making sure we can support that effort properly as we continue to grow.

Beat the Boss – Footy Tipping Update

We’re a few rounds into the 2026 season and things are already heating up in the Bowlo Beat the Boss Tipping Competition.

Round 3 saw the first perfect round of the season — setting the standard early and putting a bit of pressure on the rest of the field.

As for the Boss… it hasn’t been a great start. Drinks have been handed over every week so far, so there’s still plenty of opportunity to get involved and take advantage.

If you’ve been sitting on the fence, this is your last chance to join before entries close at the start of Round 5 (Thursday the 9th of April, TOMORROW!!).

Entry is $20, open to members only, with cash prizes at the end of the season — plus the ongoing chance to beat the Boss and earn yourself a free drink.
