Xmas Parties & AGMs

Just a quick reminder that we’re running low on available Weekends and Fridays for corporate parties and AGMs as we head into the busy end-of-year period.

If you’ve been thinking about hosting your celebration or meeting at the Bowlo, now’s the time to book! We still have some midweek availability, which is perfect for relaxed gatherings, work functions, or community group meetings.

To enquire or reserve your spot, please contact the Club Manager.

Christmas Trading

The Bowlo will be taking a short break over the festive season to give our team and volunteers a well-earned rest.

Closure Dates:
The club will be closed from Saturday 20th December to Sunday 5th January, with the exception of existing private bookings already confirmed during that period.

This means there will be no Member Open Hours on the following dates:
21st Dec, 26th Dec, 28th Dec, 2nd Jan and 4th Jan.

Regular member hours will resume from Friday the 9th of January.

Thank you for your support throughout the year — we wish all our members, guests and neighbours a safe and happy festive season and we look forward to seeing you back at the Bowlo in 2026!

Christmas Concert 6pm Sunday 14th December

The annual community concert and carol sing along is a tradition so old that no-one can even remember when it started! This year it's moving over to the Bowlo. If you would like to sing, play an instrument, dance, recite a poem, tell a story or otherwise provide some entertainment for your delighted and uncritical neighbours, new and old, please contact northfreoconcert@gmail.com

Join the Bowlo

The Bowlo is looking to bolster its ranks with two key roles that we see as essential to our long-term success:

  • Casual Chef

  • Food & Beverage Manager

These positions will help strengthen our operations and support the club’s continued growth and community focus.

Both roles will be advertised on LinkedIn and SEEK in the coming days. If you’re interested, know someone who might be, or wish to apply directly, please send all correspondence to the Club Manager.

The Bowlo is also on the lookout for a new volunteer treasurer to join our committee. It's a big but rewarding job, with a fun and dedicated team. If you know a numbers person, please pass this message along. Please reach out to the Club Manager or Committee if you have any questions.

Go Fund Me

A massive thank you to all who have already donated to the Go Fund Me that we are running, we are past 30% already. In case you missed it a local family has generously donated 25K and we are hoping our community will match it. The money will be used in a number of key areas like finishing the kitchen upgrades, installing an independent keg system, providing shade to go with our fresh picnic tables. If each of our 500 (yes we have hit 500 members now) members donated $50 then we would easily reach it. For more information or to donate please go here : Go Fund Me

Music Jam at the Bowlo

If you play an instrument or sing, we’d love to hear from you! We’re putting together a casual music-making and jamming session at the Bowlo and want to see who’s interested in joining in.

Proposed time: Late Sunday afternoon, 5 – 7 pm
Proposed genres: Celtic, folk, pop, country, bluegrass, Latin, jazz — or anything in between!

So far, we’ve got a fiddle and a banjo — but the more the merrier. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just keen to have a go, come along and be part of something fun and informal.

For more information or to express your interest, contact Gloria on 0406 939 840.

Birthday Party Wrap Up

What a day! Our Bowlo Birthday celebration was a fantastic success, enjoyed by so many from across our community. The greens were buzzing with activity and good spirits all afternoon.

Highlights included a Blind Bowls demonstration, support from Bowls WA and great entertainment with live music and a DJ set throughout the afternoon. The ever-popular Bowlo Burgers and first time ever fresh keg beer were crowd favourites — thank you to everyone who lined up and helped make it such a vibrant day at the club.

A special shout-out and farewell to Barman Blake, who wrapped up his time with us during the festivities — thank you for your service behind the bar and best wishes for what’s next.

Congratulations also to the Harvest Road Misfits for taking out the Street vs Street Competition title! We hope everyone who joined in had a great time. We’re already working on plans for the next social bowls league — this one won’t be for the Golden Foot (that’s reserved for our Street vs Street Competition) but will still bring plenty of fun and friendly rivalry.

Finally, a huge thank-you to all who helped make the day possible — whether you chipped in at the Busy Bee, assisted on the day, or worked behind the scenes. It was a true community effort and a great reminder of what makes the Bowlo special.

Chamber of Commerce Awards - Runners Up

Following on from last month’s announcement, we’re thrilled to share that the North Freo Bowlo and the North Freo Social Farm were both recognised as runners up in our respective categories at the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce Awards.

It’s an honour to be acknowledged alongside other Fremantle community organisations. The recognition shines a light on the great work both groups are doing — and highlights just how important these community spaces are for our neighbourhood.

Dogs Off the Green

We’d like to gently remind everyone that dogs must remain on a leash at all times when on the Bowlo grounds. While it might look like a perfect off-lead space, it’s not — the green and surrounding areas are actively used and maintained for play and events.

Unleashed dogs can cause safety issues, damage the green (which incurs additional remediation cost) and risk disturbing bait stations placed around the site. The area is managed in partnership with the City of Fremantle, who have authority to issue fines or remove animals if needed.

We’re asking members to help spread the word — if you see someone with a dog off lead in the Bowlo grounds, please give them a friendly reminder. Together we can keep the Bowlo welcoming, safe and in top condition for everyone (including our four-legged friends).
